Lacie Rugged Hard Drive gets bigger and better

The Best portable hard drive of the year .

The Lacie Rugged All-Terain hard drive is certainly the winner . It comes in capacities of 250GB, 320GB and 500GB in either a USB interface or firewire 800/400 and USB interface.

Lacie now manufacture the rugged hard drive up to 500GB of storage and up 7200 RPM.

The LaCie Rugged All-Terrain external hard drive is housed in a very hot-looking, eye-catching, bright-orange rubber bumper that protects the device from shocks. Apart from the colorful bumper and the scratch-protected aluminum shell, the drive boasts a no-frills, straight-to-the-point design.

LaCie states the maximum drop height to be 35 inches while in non-operating mode.

The drive comes pre-formatted for the Mac and ready to use. Just connect the drive to your Mac using either the USB 2.0, FireWire 400, or FireWire 800 ports. For laptops with limited power supplies, an additional cable is included for drawing bus power from an available USB port on the computer.

The drive also ships with LaCie’s backup and installer software.

You can also add Rugged Sleeves: Easily changeable yet durable once on, they are made of the same quality rubber as the original Rugged sleeve. This set of three additional bumpers comes in green-grey, blue-grey, and black.
